Analysis and Comparison of the American and French Healthcare Systems
I completed this piece of analytical writing to complete my semester-long internship at Les
Aramons Mental Health Hospice in Montpellier, France. I chose to integrate my experience at
the hospice with an evidence-based approach to comparing the healthcare systems of France
and the United States. As a student who has focused on public health the difference between
health outcomes was significant and I wanted to understand what factors contributed to differing
manifestations of population health.I used existing data and functional knowledge about each
institution to create a holistic review of each system, keeping in mind the positive and negative
aspects of each. I believe moving into the healthcare industry being culturally cognizant is
paramount; it is essential to have an understanding of how health delivery and organization
varies globally.

Comparison/Analysis of Healthcare Systems
Film Critique- La Jetée
French Cinema with Dr. Mai was an enriching learning experience; it challenged the way that I viewed film as purely entertainment and gave me the tools to recognize artistic
qualities. In this essay I learned how to apply this technical cinematography knowledge, such as lighting and framing, to analyze the films underlying themes and motifs. My review
of La Jetée demonstrates a high level of French language proficiency as well as the ability to synthesize abstract concepts in my nonnative tongue.
